Dominate Season 3: Your Essential Spice War Strategy Guide

In this guide, we’re breaking down Spice War, the most exciting mini-event in Season 3 of Last War Survival. You’ll learn exactly how the event works, check out the rewards you can earn, and discover why it’s so important. By the end, you’ll know how to make the most of it!

What is the Spice War event?

Spice War is a massive battle event divided into 4 major stages, where alliances go head-to-head to fight over one of the most valuable resources in Season 3: Spices.

This event runs for 4 weeks, happening twice a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays. It kicks off in week 4 of Season 3 and wraps up at the end of week 7. Also, in week 7, there’s another event called Faction Duel, which is basically an extension of Spice War.

One important thing to know is that multiple servers will take part in this event. Based on their performance in the first 3 weeks, each server gets assigned to one of two factions:

  • Scarlet Legion (Red faction)
  • Golden Tribe (Blue faction)

Spice War Rewards: What’s in It for You?

Before we dive deeper into this intense PvP event, let’s first check out the rewards. These will be delivered at the end of the season, but it’s always smart to keep an eye on them and see how your alliance stacks up against others. The rewards are split into two main categories: Alliance Rewards and Faction Rewards.

Alliance Rewards

These rewards depend on your alliance’s overall performance during the season, but the biggest factor is your total score in the Spice War event and how much Spice your alliance has gathered.

Looking at the overall rankings across our group of servers, the top alliance has collected a massive 9 million Total Spice, earned by plundering during the Spice War and producing Spice in occupied cities throughout Season 3.

To climb the rankings, your alliance needs to win as many Spice War battles as possible and take control of higher-level cities fast. I cover this in more detail in my Season 3 guide, so be sure to check that out too!

Reward tiers

As you can see, our alliance is currently ranked 61st out of 101 alliances in our group and 32nd among the Golden Tribe faction alliances—I’ll explain what that means in a bit.

This ranking places us in the 51-80 reward tier, which isn’t too bad overall. The rewards are divided into different tiers, with the most valuable ones given to the alliance leader and R4 members.

Note: Your leaders hand out all the rewards below the Tactician Reward tier at the end of Season 3 based on your overall performance.

We’ll also list soon all the tiers and their rewards but for now, here’s what the Alliance Spice Rank 51-80 offers:

Faction Rewards: Who Wins, Who Loses?

Faction rewards are also given at the end of the season, just like alliance rewards. However, here we only have two tiers, based on the two factions:

  • Scarlet Legion (Red faction)
  • Golden Tribe (Blue faction)

The winning faction gets the first-tier reward, while the losing faction gets the second-tier reward. But don’t worry, even the second-tier rewards are solid, especially the Seasonal Merit Medals, which are always useful.

Note: Don’t confuse factions with attack or defense roles. Those switch periodically, as I’ll explain in a moment. The factions mainly set the stage for Faction Duel, which is the final phase of the Spice War event.

Spice War Stages

Once the Spice War begins, each faction is assigned either an attacking or defending role based on their position in the warzone. These roles switch over time, ensuring that no faction stays in one role for too long. The 4 major stages of Spice War are:

  • Declaration – The initial stage, where attacking Alliances choose their targets.
  • Invitation – Where defending Alliances gather reinforcements.
  • Preparation – Where both sides get ready for battle.
  • Battle – This is when the actual battle takes place. The rewards are distributed based on the results when the battle is over.

But let’s break down each of these stages:

1. The Declaration Stage – Choosing Your Opponent

During this stage, R4 members from attacking Alliances can declare war on a defending Alliance. However, there are limitations. Only one Alliance can be targeted at a time, and attacks are restricted to Alliances in the same Spice ranking group.

Note: A defending Alliance can be targeted by up to three attackers but can also invite up to 2 alliances for support.

You can change your mind and declare war on another alliance during this stage, but you won’t be able to change it once this stage ends, so be strategic.

2. The Invitation Stage – Calling for Backup

Defending Alliances have the opportunity to invite reinforcements from their own faction as long as the invited Alliances have not already been attacked.

The number of reinforcements allowed depends on how many attackers are involved. If three Alliances are attacking, the defending side can invite up to two reinforcements. If two Alliances are attacking, only one reinforcement can be invited.

Reinforcements are not automatically assigned. Invited Alliances must accept the request, and R3 members within those Alliances can vote on whether to join the defense. This adds a layer of political strategy, as weaker Alliances may hesitate to risk their own Spices by engaging in battle.

3. The Preparation Stage – No Turning Back

Once the war opponent is set, there is no way to change it. Both attacking and defending Alliances use this stage to organize their troops, set rally points, and finalize battle strategies.

Since the war stage begins immediately after the preparation countdown ends, leaders must ensure that all members are ready, with healed troops, full reserves, and a clear understanding of their battle plan.

4. The War Stage – The Real Battle Begins

Defending our Alliance Center (and won) during Spice War in Season 3

The war stage, besides the actual battle between the servers and potential rewards, is also an opportunity to earn season contribution points by defeating enemies and healing troops.

The goal of this stage is simple:

  • The attacking side must destroy the defending Alliance’s Alliance Center before time runs out.
  • If the attacking side manages to destroy the Alliance Center, the war ends early, and they claim victory along with a portion of the defender’s Spices.
  • If the Alliance Center resists the assault until the timer expires, the defending side wins, securing their Spices.

Tips for attacking factions

Here are a few season 3 tips for those of you who are on the attacking side during Spice War in Last War Survival:

  1. You can earn an additional 5% of the defending Alliance’s Spices for each of the 4 destroyed support buildings located on each of the 4 pillars of the Alliance Center, the Sacred Water, Exploratory Well, Mithril Plant, and the Obelisk.
  2. The key for this phase is to teleport as close as possible to the defending faction’s Alliance Center to decrease the marching duration of your squads
  3. Use the Warlord Missile to Clear Space – When used by an R4, it teleports all defending bases in the blast area to random spots on the map, making room for attackers to teleport closer and launch faster attacks.

Note: The Warlord Missile is not for destroying the Alliance Center; it’s for clearing out defending bases.

Tips for defending factions

Now here are a few tips for the defending side:

  1. Reinforce the Alliance Center with your best squad, and make sure as many allies as possible do the same. The more troops inside, the better your chances of holding off enemy attacks.
  2. Be ready to re-send troops. Your squad will likely be kicked out soon after reinforcing the Alliance Center. When that happens, quickly send another squad or wait for your troops to return and send them back immediately. Acting fast keeps your defenses strong.
  3. Keep healing your troops. You’ll need a steady supply of troops to keep reinforcing. Make sure you’re constantly healing your wounded soldiers so you always have fresh units ready to fight.
  4. Send your Recon Planes to allies to help them convert their troops into Desert Protectors faster. This works for both attackers and defenders and can make a huge difference in battle.
  5. Bookmark your base before the Warlord Missile strikes. If your base gets teleported by the Warlord Missile, having a bookmark of your original location lets you quickly teleport back. There’s no need to teleport out of the blast area, but marking your spot helps you reposition fast.
  6. Bonus Tip: Use a shield if you don’t want to fight other players. Even if you’re not into PvP battles, you can activate a shield and keep reinforcing the Alliance Center. The enemy won’t be able to attack your base, and you’ll still earn points for defending.

End of Spice War – Rewards and Aftermath

The length of the war depends on how many Alliances are involved, and the event interface will display the countdown timer for reference.

End of the Spice War round and the collected rewards

Once the war is over, rewards are distributed based on the outcome. Winning Alliances receive Spices and additional victory rewards, which can be claimed through the event interface. So basically, if the attacking faction wins, they can plunder a portion of Spices from the defending Alliance.

If the defending side had fewer Alliances than the attackers, their rewards are boosted up to three times the normal amount as a balancing mechanic.

When multiple attackers are involved, the amount of Spices plundered is divided proportionally based on how much damage each attacking Alliance inflicted on the Alliance Center. However, the total Spices lost by the defender remains the same.

This stage lasts until server time resets at 0:00 the next day. Any unclaimed victory rewards or event point rewards will be sent via in-game mail.

If the defending Alliance fails to rebuild its Alliance Center by the end of this stage, the game will automatically restore it. And this is where you and your allies should send a squad to reinforce the Alliance Center and repair the damages faster.
