Last War Season 2 Beginner’s Guide for Week 1

Season 2 brings a fresh experience to Last War Survival, especially if you like winter-themed events. Unlike the first season, you’ll face temporary blizzards, different types of furnaces to keep bases and territories warm, and new special buildings.

The world map has also changed, introducing temperature variations that can impact resource production, combat performance, and even temporarily block base teleportation in certain areas.

In this guide, I’ll break down each part of Season 2, its main objectives, and offer some helpful tips for your first week.

Season 2 Weekly Tasks and Goals

A quick overview of what Season 2 offers in Last War Survival

When you open the Season 2 event page, you’ll find several sections. The first section at the top gives you a quick overview of your current week, including the rules, goals, profession, and rewards. Season 2 lasts for 8 weeks, with each week bringing new tasks, buildings, and features.

The most important sections to check regularly are Goals, Profession, and Season Contribution.

  • Goals – This is where you can claim rewards and Violet hero shards for upgrading the High-Heat Furnace, the key building of Season 2.
  • Profession – A shortcut to your Profession Hall building for quick access.
  • Season Contribution – Tracks your individual points from raising base temperatures, donating Coal, capturing cities, and participating in S2-related activities.

We’ve also built this tool to help you calculate and simulate the Season 2 Engineer skill points consumption so you have a better view of which skills to activate:

Seasonal Buildings

The first week of Season Two offers two special buildings: The High-heat Furnace and the Titanium Alloy Factory

High-heat Furnace

The High-heat Furnace has the role of increasing the local temperature and the VR stat required for conquering dig sites and cities but also for zombie and doom elite attacks. The higher the level of your furnace the higher the bonuses and damage reduction.

For example, my level 19 furnace gives me a 4600 VR, a default temperature of 14.5 degrees just by keeping it active, and 21.5 degrees in overdrive mode. However, certain profession skills such as the Overdrive mode, can also raise the base temperature.

The VR, on the other hand, can also be raised by purchasing the weekly pass. As you can see, my furnace gives me a 4600 VR at the current level but my VR score is 4850 due to the weekly pass subscription.

Titanium Alloy Factories

The purpose of these buildings is to produce Titanium Alloy, the required resource for upgrading the High-Heat Furnace. There’s only one furnace per base but you can have up to five Titanium Alloy factories (4 by upgrading the first 3 factories to level 15 and a fifth one by purchasing the weekly pass).

Other Season Buildings

The mentioned buildings are base-related but there are also a few important ones that can raise the temperatures for specific areas of the map such as the Alliance Furnace and Nuclear Furnace.

The Alliance Furnace can only be managed by R4 and R5 members and its role is to raise the temperature of the entire squared tile around it. Once it’s built, members can donate coal up to 50 times a day to support the continuous heating effect.

All members should donate Coal daily because the higher the level the more fuel will be consumed, especially in overdrive mode when the blizzards hit and the world map temperatures drop drastically.

Seasonal Resources

In Season 2, the two key resources are Coal and Titanium Alloy.

Coal

Coal is essential for upgrading Titanium Alloy Factories, donating to the Alliance Furnace, and helping warm up allies. It also fuels the High-Heat Furnace, the most important building of the season.

Alliance furnace coal donation
How to donate Coal to the Alliance Furnace
How to Get Coal:
  • Defeat zombies and Doom Elites (first-time rewards per level).
  • Complete Survivor Rescue missions from the radar.
  • Tap visitors at your city gate.
  • Purchase the Weekly Pass or Season Battle Pass.
  • Find hidden Coal supplies near cities (requires land temperature of 0°C or higher, achieved via profession skills, the Alliance Furnace, or capturing cities).

Titanium Alloy

Titanium Alloy is used to upgrade the High-Heat Furnace and is produced by Titanium Alloy Factories.

How to Get Titanium Alloy:
  • Produced by Titanium Alloy Factories.
  • Bonus rewards for defeating Doom Elites (once per level).
  • Earned from city captures with your alliance.

Purge Action: VR and Zombie Types

The Purge Action section ranks players based on the highest zombie and Doom Elite levels they’ve defeated. A key factor in these battles is VR (Virus Resistance), which affects both the damage you deal and take. If a zombie level requires a higher VR than yours, I strongly recommend avoiding it, you’ll likely lose the fight and waste troops.

Every time you defeat a new level of zombies or Doom Elites for the first time, you’ll receive a Coal bonusDoom Elites offer even better rewards, including Titanium Alloy, but they are much harder to defeat. If your VR is too low, you can still win by joining a rally with a teammate who meets the required VR. You’ll lose some troops, but the rewards are worth it.

Don’t forget to claim your first-time rewards by tapping the small gift box on the world map!

Thermal Map and World Temperatures

Thermal map view

The world map of Season 2 has completely changed. It is now made up of cities and dig sites arranged in a repeating pattern., all on an icy cold land covered partially with snow.

At the start of the season, you and your alliance will begin at the edge of the map with no cities under your control. All cities must be conquered again, but this time under new rules. Each alliance can control up to six cities and four dig sites.

The powerful Doom Elite monsters have transformed into aggressive polar monsters, while most zombies are now harder to defeat due to their higher virus resistance (VR) requirements.

On the map, cities are represented as buildings, while empty tiles indicate dig sites.

Cities are connected at their corners, and the same rule applies to dig sites. Colored tiles indicate conquered areas, with each color representing a different alliance. In my case, blue tiles belong to our alliance.

A new feature, the Thermal Map, shows temperature variations across the world. Clicking on any point reveals the temperature at that location. These temperatures can temporarily affect your troops when gathering resources or fighting monsters in low-temperature zones.

Starting from the outer edges of the map, temperatures drop as you move toward the center. It begins at -15°C at the edges and falls to -80°C at the center, where the Capitol (now called the Nuclear Furnace) is located. The deeper you go, the harsher the conditions become, making battles and survival even more challenging.

Blizzards and How to Prepare

A quick overview of the Blizzard event and how to warm up allies in Season 2

Blizzards are temporary events that begin on the first day of Season 2 and last for a few hours. They come in different levels, with higher-level blizzards causing a bigger drop in temperature (some even down to -65°C or lower, as seen in the above screenshot from our server). If your base temperature falls below -20°C, your base will enter a frozen state.

When this happens, a 5-minute countdown will appear. Once the timer runs out, you won’t be able to use Advanced Teleporters or start rallies.

To unfreeze your base, you’ll need to increase its temperature by activating overdrive mode on your High-Heat Furnace or requesting warming assistance from allies.

Frozen bases on the map

To prevent your base from freezing, make sure both blizzard protection options are checked on your Furnace. This will automatically turn on the Furnace and activate overdrive mode during a blizzard. However, once the blizzard ends, remember to manually turn off overdrive mode to avoid wasting all your Coal.

Season Contributions

Season Contributions track the top contributors during the season. You can check these rankings by going to the Season 2 menu and selecting “Season Contributions” at the bottom-right corner or by opening the Alliance menu and tapping the yellow “Season Contributions” option.

While these rankings don’t provide direct rewards, R4 and R5 leaders often use them to decide how loot rewards are distributed. Loot rewards are earned when your alliance captures territories, and leaders can choose how to distribute them.

Each loot box contains 500 alliance contribution points, a Hero’s Return recruitment ticket, and training and healing speedups.

You can earn Season Contribution points in four ways: Mutual Assistance, Siege, Rare Soil War, and Defeat. The most common method is Mutual Assistance, which is divided into 3 categories:

1. Sending a Recon Plane to Warm Up an Ally

Each time you send a recon plane to warm up an ally’s base, you earn 1,000 contribution points. To do this, tap on an allied base and press the flame button. This action costs 1,000 Coal per plane, and the target base’s temperature will instantly increase by 2°C.

2. Donating Coal to the Alliance Furnace

This is the best way to earn contribution points while also helping keep your alliance members warm. Each 1,000 Coal donation to the Alliance Furnace gives 10,000 contribution points and raises the temperature for all allies on the same tile as the furnace. You can donate up to 50 times per day.

3. Helping Unfreeze Allies

When a base temperature drops to -20°C, it enters a frozen state. Allies can help by tapping the frozen base and selecting the pickaxe icon to send a squad for assistance.

Unlike recon planes, this sends a hero squad, which takes longer to arrive, especially if the base is far from the alliance hive. That’s why it’s best to use an Alliance Teleporter first before requesting warming assistance.

Dig Site Clash

Dig sites captured
Dig sites captured and their Coal production rates

This section of Season 2 is all about dealing as much damage as possible to world bosses to capture Dig Sites. These powerful creatures hit hard, so increasing your VR (Virus Resistance) quickly is key to surviving and dealing more damage.

Dig Sites are essential for your alliance because they generate Coal per hour, and the higher the Dig Site level, the more Coal is produced for all members. Each alliance can control up to four Dig Sites.

Here’s a useful tip: claim your Coal daily by going to Alliance Menu > Alliance City > Produces Coal tab and tapping the Claim All button. This will give you a big Coal boost to speed up the leveling of your Titanium Alloy Factories.

City Clash S2

This section covers the rules for capturing cities and when these events take place. By tapping the City List in the top-right corner, you can see the cities your alliance has captured and those still available for conquest.

Capturing cities is highly rewarding, with first-capture bonuses that include Hero’s Return tickets, CoalTitanium Alloy, and speedups. However, to capture a higher-level city, it must be connected to your alliance’s existing territory, and only one city can be targeted at a time. If your alliance has no Cities or Dig Sites, you must first capture a Level 1 Dig Site before expanding further.

As with zombie or Dig Site battles, increasing your VR (Virus Resistance) is crucial to reducing troop damage. These battles can instantly lower your overall power, so being prepared is key.

Once a city is captured, all alliance members receive buffs that boost resource production and gathering speed. Higher-level cities provide even stronger buffs, making city conquests an essential part of growing your alliance’s strength.

Weekly and Season Battle Pass

These premium subscriptions provide extra daily rewards on top of those earned from completing season-related tasks.

The Season Battle Pass includes two additional reward tabs, offering Coal, Profession XP, Skill Points, hero recruitment tickets, gems, and more. These rewards are tied to your progress in Season 2, making it a valuable option for those actively participating in seasonal events.

If you plan to purchase it just once, avoid investing too much into upgrading this fifth factory and focus on leveling up the other four instead.

The Weekly Pass works differently; it isn’t tied to any season milestones or tasks. Instead, it grants daily rewards like stamina, Coal, and speedups. Activating it also gives you one extra VR level and a Titanium Alloy Factory, but these benefits only last for a week.
